THE BALL.

We need scarcely remind our readers that to-night a ball will be given at the Drill-shed in honor of the Southern A rolunteer?. Preparations on the most extensive scale have been made, Major Heapby, Lieut. Snell, Lieut. F.eHoy, and others having been indefatigable in their labours, the result of which is acoup d'cpil tasteful and strikingly beautiful in the highest degree. The decorations, of course, are military, the arms and banners being used with fine effect. Dancing begins at 9 p.m. We should state that it is Mr. C. Grey, of Shortlaud-street, and not Mr. Canning, as stated in a contemporary, that is caterer on the occasion. The ball will, we are glad to lienr, be an exceedingly successful one, as judged from present indications.
