The members of the left wing of the Auelr land Battalion proceeded to the butts Monday, when, fortunately, the weather \Z very fine. Some eighteen men mustered on the ground, in charge of Lieutenant Burns and Ensign Gatland. Sergt.-Majorßroughton was also pi-esent, and did good service at th butts. Major Tisdall was present on the part of the Government. The firing was for three prizes : —First, £5 ; second, £3 j third £2 Sergeant Warren, of No. 5 company, scored 36 points at all ranges ; Sergeant Dufaur, of No. 4 company, 34; and private f^g of No. 6 company, 32. Ensign Q-atland' also scored 32, and there will n ro . bably be a dispute as to who is the winner of the prize, •which Gatland claims, on the ground that he made the best firing at the long ranges. Corporal Ellis, of Mo. 6 Company, scored 30, which will entitle him to the 6th prize of the first-class, amounting to £3, At the conclusion of the firing some sweepstake matches were got up, and some good firing was made. The members of the Artillerj Baad are requested to muster at Fort Britomarfc, when the signal-flag is flying from the fire-bell in Princes-street, in order to play the Southern Volunteers into town.

We are glad to|hear that the new uniforms of the A.R.V. Band are now ready, and that the members will appear dressed in a very different style to that in which we have Been them in days gone by.
