POLICE COURT.—THURSDAY.

(Before J. S. Mncfarlane and L. D. Nathan, Esqs., Justices.) Drunkenness.—Four drunkards were punished in the usual manner. Christina Wilson, for being drunk and disorderly, was ordered to pay 20s fine, or to be imprisoned 48 hours. Vageancy.—John Leonard was sent to gaol for one month as a vagrant. Municipal Act.—Anne Carrol, for breaking the windows of W. Scott, was fined 20s, or to be imprisoned one month. Assault.—James Hennessy was charged by Bridget Henuessy with having violently assaulted her on the night of the 27th February. —Complainant deposed to facts of the case, as a very cruel and unprovoked assault.—Ordered to find security himself in £50, and two sureties in £25 each to keep the peace for six months. City Rates.—Several cases on the list of charges for arrears of city rates were settled out of Court.—-M. Dempsey was ordered to pay £6 Is 6d, rates due on property in Albert-street-A claim against D. Kean for £1 6s 2d was part heard, and adjourned till Saturday.—A claim against T. Watson for £1 13s 9d was dismissed, defendant being a weekly tenant.— Mr. Wynn as solicitor for the City Board, appeared for the Board in each case. Pebjuby.—H. L. Kennedy was charged by W. McGregor Hay with having committed wilful and contempt perjury before Sir George Arney during examination in the bankruptcy case of John Smith.—Mr. Wynn for the prosecution ; Mr. MacCormick and Mr. Jas. Russell for the defence.—W. M. Hay, deposed : lam a solicitor practising in Auckland. Was present in the Supreme Court on the 23rd of February, during the examination in the case of an insolvent, John Smith. The case was adjourned for the examination of Mr. Kennedy, then at the Fijis.—Objection was taken by Mr. MacCormick on the grounds that the whole bankruptcy case should be laid before their Worships to show that the deposition alleged to be perjury was pertinent to the case.-—Debate ensued.—Case remanded till Monday.
