ART UNION EXHIBITION.
The first exhibition by the Auckland Society of Artists was opened' to-day in the large'front room upstairs in the City Hall. As the catalogues of the paintings are not yet ready, we shall reserve a detailed account of the Exhibition till another occasion. There is a very numerous collection ; and though it,is not to be,expected that the eye that has been delighted with works:of art in collections among older and more matured communities will be altogether satisfied, —still, there are many really nice pictures, aud. the Exhibition is thoroughly well worth a visit. Some of the landscapes especially will attract much attention; and though we have taken but a rapid and cursory glance ac the works exhibited, we feel convinced that the-Exhibition will be generally regarded as creditable in the highest degree to the Society.
