The Central Board of Education met yesterday, at the Provincial Government offices, at 3 p.m. The subject of the appointment of an Inspector of Schools was considered ; when it being considered that the offices of Inspector and Secretary to the Board could not be disjoined, owing to terms of the Act, the matter was deferred, in order that the present Secretary might consider whether he should retain or resign the joint offices. Various grants to schools were sanctioned, and other matters considered, and tho Board adjourned till Monday next. There was a sitting in bankruptcy yesterday, before the Registrar, Laughlin O'Brien, when the following bankrupts were discharged. John Bunyan Ferguson and Hugh Ferguson, contractors, Mercury Bay. The cases of W. H. Crawford, and H. G. C. Nees were adjourned to the next Court-day.
