DISTRICT PRIZE FIRING.
The Gevernment District Prize Firing for the Volunteers of the Auckland District came off yesterday at the Butts, Point Chevalier. The day was bright, with a strong southerly breeze. There was a strong muster of Volunteers. Major Tisdall, Captain Rees, and Lieutenant Whitson were on the ground. The first prize of £10 and a Snider rifle was won by Private John Keefe, A.N.V.; second prize, £8, Sergeant G-. Cameron, No. 2 Company, A.R.V. ; third prize, £6, Private A. Boardinan, No. 3 Company, A.R.V.; fourth prize, £5, Private George Evitt, No. 2 Company, A.R.V.; fifth prize, £4, Private T. Stewart, No. I Company A.R.V.; sixth prize, £3, PHvate John Coyle, A.N.V.
