ARRIVAL OF THE CITY OF MELBOURNE.
The powerful steamer City of Melbourne, H. Grainger, Esq, coinmnnder, arrived in harbour this morning, with the English mail. We are indebted to Mr. Newman, for the prompt delivery of our exchanges. The City left Auckland on the 7th ult., at midnight, •with the Australian and New Zealand mails. Experienced fresh east and north east winds throughout, until her arrival at Honolulu on the 24th ult., at midnight, in company with the s.s. Moses Taylor, from San Francisco. On the 25th transferred passengers, mails, and cargo, and sailed from thence ou the 27th, at 1 a.m. From leaving Honolulu until her arrival here at midnight last night, she has experienced very fine weather, and has made the quickest passage yet accomplished by her, viz , 15 days and 23 hours.
Passengers.—For Auckland : Mrs. B. Bell, Mrs. W. James, Mr. T. Henderson, Mr. A. Stevenson (Mail Agent), saloon. Second cabin : Mr. J. W. Atkinson. Steerage, 5.
Foe Sydney.---Dr. W. a. Strong, Mr. W. W. Allison, Mr. C. E. Darton, Mrs. C. K. Darton and two children, Captain Berrill, saloon. Steerage, 12.
Cargo.—3o flasks quicksilver, order ; 1 case merchandize, Oruickshank, Smart and Co.; 2 bundles trees, 1 box seed, Nir George Q-rey; 1 box bnots and shoes, Marshall; 1 box. seed, R. Baird ; 1 ditto ditto, Martin ; 2 bags papers, G-. T. Chapman ; 2 cages quail, Cruickshank, Smart and Co. ; 50 barrels salmon, Henderson and Macfarlane ; 428 kegs sugar, 1 box of curiosities, Craickshank, Smart and Co.; 1 box sundries, E. Lee. For Sydney :—659 bags sugar, 250 flasks quicksilver and 7 pkgs.
