POLICE COURT.—Wednesday.
(Before T. Macffarlane and E. Isaacs, Esqs., Justices.) Deunkenness.—W. Watts and Gk Braley, for first offences, were fined 55., and Mary, a Maori, and Jem, a Kanaka, were fined 10s. for second offences, or the usual alternative. Vagbancy.—Jnne Kelly, charged with this offence, and previous offences of drunkenness having been proved by Sergeant-mnjor Moi> rison, was sent to gaol for three months. Labcent.—John Clune was charged with having stolen a parcel, the property of Bessie Parnell, and valued nt 4s.—R. GKlharn, coachman, deposed that on the slh instant he saw Bessio Parnell leaving a parcel at Hardington's waiting rooms, and then going away. The parcel was taken away between 11 and 12 o'clock. She reported the loss.—P. Carroll, a little boy, a seller of fruit, stated that on that day he had seen defendant in the coach office, and had seen him take the parcel in his hand. Defendant struck witness. Soon after a young lady came in and said she had lost a parcel. After striking witness defendant placed the parcel on the table agaiu.—Robert Ternahari deposed that he arrested prisoner on.suspicioiii He denied being in the yard, and. said that a lad, Murray, had taken the parcel. Murray was not in town that day, nor for some time. The parcel has not been found.—Case dismissed. ;
