The p.s. Eoyal Alfred will leave the Wharf at 7 o'clock this (Monday) evening, for the Thames. We would remind our readers that a very pleasing entertainment will take place this evening at Mr. _liccol's Patent Slip Building, North Shore, being the annual soiree of the Presbyterian Church there. As the p.s. Lalla Eookh is laid on to convey passengers from the city and back at single fares, we have no doubt that a very large number will avail, themselves of the opportunity of having a pleasant trip and a pleasant evening's entertainment ; and that such a success will attend the soiree as to give general satisfaction, and also wipe off the small debt remaining on the building of the North Shore Presbyterian Church. Tho anniversary services in connection with the Primitive Methodist Chapel, Sheridanstreet, were held yesterday. Collections were made at the close of each service. The annual tea-meeting will be held this evening. We are very glad to see that Olson's tomato sauce is making headway amongst all classes of Auckland society.. Wo know of no sauce so agreeable and piquant, and always give if a preference, and the testimonials Mr. Olson has received from leading residents in Auckland speak well for tho position the condiment has taken on the table. " A person called Felix McCarthy," says the Wanrjaraii Herald, " was sentenced to two months' imprisonment with hard labour, for a wanton and unprovoked assault on Colonel McDonnell, in his own grounds on Monday evening. McCarthy's only motive for the assault was because the Colonel refused to recommend him for tho Colonial Crosß."
