EDEN ELECTION.
THIS DAY.
The nomination for the Eden electoral district took place at the old toll-house, Newmarket, to-day, at 12 o'clock. The meeting was held in the open air. The Returning Officer having read the writ of election, Mr. Heneey Ellis, M.P.C., stood forward and proposed Mr. John Kerr. The nomination was seconded by. Mr. Thomas Russell, sen. Mr. Baetsn leetanb proposed Mr. R. J. Creighton. The nomination was seconded by Mr. Jas. Wrigley. , Both candidates addressed the electors, and after questions had been answered a show of hands was taken. The numbers were for Kerr, 9; for Crighton 16. The Returning Officer declared the show of hands to be in favour of Mr. Creighton ; Mr. Kerr demanded a poll.
