VISIT OF THE GOVERNOR TO THE SOUTH.
We understand that hi 3 Excellency the Governor will leave Auckland this day (Saturday) for Wellington in H.M.S. Virago, which will touch at several native settlements on the East Coast. Commodore Stirling will take the G-overnor in the Clio to Mitford's Sound, Martin's Bay, and the other inlets of the south-western coast of the Middle Island, at which it has been proposed to found settlements. These inlets have been little visited heretofore. Afterwards the Clio, will take the Governor to the Bluff and Dunedin; whence his Excellency and the Commodoro intend to visit Lake Wakatip, the goldfields, and generally the interior of the provinces of Canterbury and Otago ; proceeding also to Hokitika and Wostland. This official tour will occupy more than two months. We further understand that the new Government llouso at Wellington will bo fully habitable and fur- ' nished in April or May next, when Lady Bowen and her children will go there.
