POST OFFICE ITEMS.

Duking the quarter ended 31st December, 1870, the following transactions have taken place in the Post Office, Money Order, and Savings Bank departments in this province :— 1259 money orders have been issued, for £5351 4s. 2d. ; the commission on these orders amounted to £105 25.; 1071 money orders have been paid, amounting to £4745 18s. sd. During the same period 881 Savings Bank deposits, amouniing to £10,602 14s. have been received, including 181 new accounts opened ; 788 withdrawals were made, amounting to £9867 14s. 7d. ; and £81 12s. 3d. was paid aa interest on closed accounts.
