January 13. A supposed salmon smolt, 7 inches long, has been caugnt in the Molyneaux.
Tho election excitement, is increasing. The contest for the Superintend en cy will be exceedingly close, but is considered certain for Micandrew, who has a large majority in Southland.
Mr. Driver addressed the constituents of Mornington yesterday, and a vote of confidence was passed. No opposition is expected. Dilion _ell has b, en requested to stand for Port Chalmers.
A sawyer has been killed by the fall of machinery.
