DEPARTURE OF H. R. H. THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH.

The announcement that H. M. ships the Galatea and Clio, with the Duke of Edinburgh on board the former vessel, would take thoir departure from our harbour ti«is morning, brought a large crowd of people to the Breakwater and the «hnrves. About 10 o'clock the Clio had lifted her anchor and was seen moving quietly down the harbour. In a few minutes the Galatea was also underweight, and, immediately after, the Luna from the Breakwater, densely crowded, having on noard Hi 9 Excellency and suite, the members of the Choral Society, and a iargo number of invitees. At the same time, the Royal Alfred, also well filled with passengers, aud one or two of the ferry steamers were moving down the harbour to afford a last look of the Galatea, and bid good bye to her royal commander. When opposite Devonport, the Choral Society on tho one , and, an I subsequently the Gala tea bund on the oilier, discoursed sweet sounds in mutual farewells. After rounding the North Head, ihe Galatea presented a very beautiful sight, the men manning the yards and waving banners, each of the masts even being crowned by a seaman, tho men of the Clio also appearing on their yard anus, and rounds of cordial cheers being exchanged between the departing warships and those on board the Luna and Koyal Alfred. After accompanying the men-of war almost to the Reef, the small steamers returned to the wharf at about half-past eleven.
