ADELAIDE.
December 27. - Fuller news from the northern tenitory brought by the Lubra confirms the telegrams. It is expected that six hundred miles of the overland telegraph will be completed in eight months. There is' evidence that Stuart never reached Chambers Bay.—. To-day is a general holiday and very little business doiug. December 28. —The Government have called in all outstanding Volunteer arms, with a penalty for default.—The foot police are being drilled daily in the use of the rifle. —A store at Wellington was burned down last night, the insurance is £900 iv the South Australian office.—George Dean, collector and agent, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for embezzlement.
December 29. — Mr. Haussen, of the firm of Haussen and Catehlove, died suddenly yesterday.—Wheat still firm at 4s 6d.
