CHRISTMAS.

Whatevek may be the complaints as to limes being bad, there is no I'aek of preparation for making the Christmas season a merry one; and we have no doubt that there will be a ready response from the public. Foremost among the means of enjoyment provided, come the exclusions, of which there are the usual number and variety. On Boxing l-'ay the Lord Ashley will convey excursionists to Waiwera, Hot Springs, and Kawau ; and the Royal Alfred and Duke of Edinburgh will make hourly trips to the Lake Takapuna, at which place the Odd Fellows and Foresters will be holding high festival.

To-day and to-morrow the Enterprise and Lalla Hookh will convey visitors to the Galatea. The .Enterprise will, ou Monday, run tfo Cremorne Gardens, where all kinds of E,nglish games are in preparation. The Gemini will make a trip to Kiverhoad on Boxing Day, allowing excursionists four hours at Jiiverhead to observe the scene of approaching railway operations. Ssame day the Punmure races will, doubtless, attract the lovers of hoi^e flesh, and the Domain and North Shore will present their several attractions to those who do not desire lo roam far from home, while at the Whau there will be a variety of gymnastic sports of a very exciting and attractive kind. For the evenings, Herr Bandmann and company will be appearing nightly at the Theatre Eoyal, while at the I'rince of Wales the juveniles, and many an adult too, will take delight in the time-honored pantomime. And then those strange Orientals, whose bodies contain no bones apparently, and whose feats of legerdemain savour of the black art, go through their wonderful performances every night at the City Kali. Altogether there will be no want of means of enjoyment for those who desire to make a merry Christmas; and we heartily wish to our friends and fellow citizeus, enjoyments to their heart's content.
