. POLICE COURT.—Sattjbday. (Before J. Nanghton and J. Dilworth, Esqs., Justices.) Drunkenness. —W. Dixon and John Woods were fined 5s for first offences. T. Pennel, for being drunk and disorderly, was fined 20s or to be imprisoned 48 hours. Paraki, a Maori, was charged with being drunk. Mr. Manning interpreted. The offence was proved, and the man fined 5s and costs. Vagbavct.—H. J. J. Augusta, an imbecile looking person, well-known as a beggar in the Mahurangi district, was sent to gaol for one month. Stbaying CATTLE.-Jau-.es Smith for allowing a horse to wander was fined ss. Henry Schumacher was fined a similar amount.—Elizabeth Ryan was charged with allowing cattle to stray on the military reserve. On the application of Sergeantmajor Morrison; in the absence of Mr. Sheehan, the ca=e was remanded till Monday. Criminal Assault.—T. W. Garlick was charged by Henry Gilberd, uncle and guardian of Susan Mary Gilberd, with having on or about the month of July last, committed a criminal assault on the said Susan Mary Gilberd. Mr. Wynn appeared for the prosecution, and on the grounds that the principal witness, the girl herself, is absent at Waiuku, applied for a remand till Monday. Bemanded accordingly. Mr. Bennett, who apeared in place of Mr. Bees, counsel for the defence, subsequently applied to have prisoner admitted to bail. Bail allowed the prisoner in £500, and two sureties in £250 each. Special collections will be made at St. Paul's church to-morrow, on behalf of its Sunday School. The Right Rev. Bishop Cowie will preach in the morning, and the Rev. E. 2h. Bree in the evening.
