We beg to call attention to a vory important sale of American goods, to be held by Mr. Tonka >n Friday. As this is t'e first shipment of such goods for some four or five years, it should attract much attention, not only from the Irade, but the general public. The p.s. Duke of Edinburgh will leavo the wharf for Grahamstown, at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Most peope sauntering in the neighbourhood of the wharf will have enquired the cause of the display of bunting on various ships fchf-re lying. To gratify curiosity we br-p to say that it is in honor of the marriage today J celebrated of Miss Phoebe Dennett step-daughter of Mr. Macready, to Mr Charles Overton. We are not acquainted with nautical signalling, but sve believe the signals ai c appropriate to the occasion. It affords us much gratification to learn that Mr. Lewis-on has, in the exercise of charitable feelings that do him credit, kindly arrange^ to present a bullock to the poor of Auckland, to provide a good dinner for all who could not easily otherwise obtain it for Christmas Day We also learn that Mr. Barr, the butcher, has kindly offered to cut up and dispense the gifi for Mr. Lewisson. We understand that Madame Halle will not give a second concert in Aucklund. A meeting of the landowners of I'arnell was held on Monday evening at the Parnell Hall, lor the purpose of taking into consideration the proposed road from flic Brtakwatertc Parnell.
