Star ol.the. Karaka Gold Mining Company ; .MurdocU v. Montezuma Company; Porter and Co. v. Southern Cross Cold Mining Company ; Pratt v. Marquis of Hastings Gold Mining Company. Cases Adjouenled.—E. Porter and Co. v. Walker, Lusk v. Midnight Gold Mining Company, Russell v. Bonuington. Defended Cases.—Cochrane and Son v. McDermott. —Claim £58 6s. Bd., balance due for purchase of certain land.—Messrs. Wynn and Weston for the plaintiffs ; Mr.' Hesketh for the defendant. —The ease broke down at the outset, through a certain document not bearing a stamp. —The defendant's counsel elected to take a nonsuit.

Donklly v. Pye. -Mr. Wynn for the plaintiff and Mr. Hesketh for the defendant. —The action was brought to recover the sum of £50 due from, the defendant, who, it was alleged, had broken the plaintiff's leg, on the 4th of December lust, by riding over him, in Panmure, it being alleged that it was done t irough gross carelessness, and while the defendant was in an excited state, consequent upon the combined effects of beer and election matters, there being that day an election at Panmure. —For the defence, it was stated.that the plaintiff was intoxicated on the day of the election, and that the horse broke his leg through his own misconduct. (Left sitting.)
