We desire to draw attention to an entertainment of a very interesting character to be given to-night in the Catholic Institute. The proceeds are to be devoted in aid of the objects of this deserving institution, and from the ability of those who are to take part in the entertainment, we have every reason, to anticipate a very great success.

In the list of officers who went clown in the unfortunnte ironclad 11.M.5. Captain, ap-peai-s the name of midshipman Lord Arthur Herbert. The deceased officer was a brother of the Earl of Pembroke.
Theophilus Kissling, Esq., has been appointed Registrar of Deeds for the District of Auckland.
His Excellency the Governor has been instructed to recognise the appointment of Louis Bols, Esq., as Consul-General for Belgium in Australia ; and also that of David Boosie Cruickshank, Esq., as Vice-Consul for the Netherlands at Auckland.
A billiard match that attracted a good deal of attention, was played at the Levuka Hotel cjuite recently, the comhatants were Mr. Bone, a gentleman who has .acquired a reputation as a player in Victoria, and a professional marker, known as " liittle Johnny," lately from Auckland ; the game throughout was a gift for the new arrival, who made some very brilliant strokes and was loudly applauded at the termination.
