DiiuNKENNESS.—James Avey and James Hemieasy, for first offences, and John Woods and Jane Frazer for second ofience3, ware punished in the usual manner. Labcent. —8.. Grlover was charged by J. Beaton, a seaman' of H.M.S. Blanche, with having stolen a musical instrument. —Mr. McGregor for the defendant.—ln consequence of the Blanche leaving port to-day, the case was remanded. —Bail allowed defendant and one security each in £o.
Abusive Lanchtage. —Edward Shepherd was charged by O. S. Ellis with having used abusive language towards him.—Mr. Wvnn for the prosecution, and Mr. Joy for the defence.—O. S. Ellis, builder of Hopetownstreet, deposed that on loth inst. he went with Mr. Burn into defendant's bar, when after a few glasses, without any provocation, defendant called him a lying loafing, thieving vagabond, and threatened to repeat the language.—To Mr. Joy : I was in defendant's debt at the time. He did not attempt to use violence. Had not insulted me before. I have drunk with defendant since the occurrence. — Richard Burn corroborated previous evidence, and stated that he saw' defendant since pay the money due. —The Bench considered the case condoned and of a trivial kind, and dismissed it; each^to pay his own costs.
