GOLD FOUND IN THE BED OF TARARU CREEK.

Some little excitement has been caused in this district during the past few days, in consequence of a rumour having got abroad that teveral parties have been getting gold in payable quantities from the bed of the creek. Yesterday several parties went to the upper district, and have diverted the stream, in order to prospect the bed, and although it is baid the gold is pure alluvial, yet I have not much faith iv this, and should not be at all surprised if it is found to be the washings from the reefs in that neighbourhood, as was the case in Graham's paddock, of which so much noise was made by your contemporaries.
