DIOCESAN SYNOD.
The Diocesan Synod met as usual on Friday. A considerable amount of business was transacted. Among the rest,' it was decided -to raufi. a charge "of ten s illings for eaeth funeral in the Church cemetery-on a Sunday; and that fences in the cemetery around graves should not be more than three feet high. A motion was carried for holding a general meeting in Auckland at the next meeting of the Synod, at which papers shall be read. A long and animated discussion ensued in respect to the St. Stephen's trust properly. The subject was introduced by Mr. Boardman, who strongly deprecated the nonutilisation ot the trust property, and referred to the determination evinced to retake possession of it if not used for the purposes for whioh it was. granted. It was decide! to send a memorial to the Ministry to obtain power to lease for 60 years instead of only 21 years, as at present.
