VicKßits and Orchard's Report.—This has been unoMier quiet week in our markut. The chief feature has been the half-yearly meeting of Bin k of New Zealand shareholders, and declaration of dividend of 15 pe'- cent., ■which is now payable. The report should be considered as highly satisfactory, for notwiihflUn ling the unusual depression of late iv all brandies of tra le, and the larjje number of failures, the profits for the half-year just ended is only some £268 less than for the one preriotts, 'Which certainly implies that great caution and care must have been exercised in the Bank's ordinary transactions. All the new shares appear to have been taken up readily.
—New Zealand -Insurance Company's shares are advancing, ar.d at. present are firmly held as the time for dividend appn ai-hes.—Gold mining shares remain flat, and much thesa, nif as last week. There are buyers of Long Drives a* £10 10i ; Caledonians at £9; Shotoveis, 10s 6d ; and vV hau at 18s.
