If we are to judge from the activity shown by members of the Provincial Council on the first meeting, in tabling notices and otherwise making preparations for the campaign, there are stirring times coming in the Council Chambers; and any shortcomings in the programme as submitted by His Honor, -will be more than supplemented by the zeal of members. The subjects of the alteration of the scheme for the Kaipara railway, of wharfage at Raglan, expenditure on the goldfields past, present, and to come, bridges at Howick and at Newton, opening up the Coromandel mountains, the repeal of the City Loan Act, the relief of the sick and destitute, and a host of other things have rushed fearlessly on the tapis, with such a pell-mell haste as may -well astound legislators, at the labours before them.
