BOATING ACCIDENT.
Rather an awkward accident occurred on Monday last to two members of the Auckland Rowing Club--Messrs. Coates and Brassey— who were out pulling in a pair-oared outrigger. Returning from the North Shore, and when about the middle of the stream, the boat got capsized. Of course, the two gentlemen were immediately immersed ; but, fortunately, both were swimmers, and for no less than two hours they remained unobserved paddling round their boat, resting upon her as she came to the surface, and again swimming as their united weight caused her to sink. All their efforts to attract attention by singing out and holding up their arms proved unavailing for two hours, until a girl on the North Shore noticed their position and gave the alarm, when a boat put off from the Naval Depot and released them from their dangerous position. Both gentlemen are somewhat the worse for their ducking, as might have been expected, although no serious results are apprehended.
