SPECIAL TELEGRAM
THIS DAY,
THE ELECTION.
G-bahamstown, 2.30 p.m. The poll has closed, showing Mitchell to have recorded 298 votes, and Grove 150; or a majority of 148 for the former.
The Clyde and Tyne.—The tributers of the Clyde and Tyne claim, in To Papa, Gully, have commenced a crushing at the F.M.K. battery. There is a large quantity of stuff to grass, which has accumulated in paddocks while the roads were unfit for sending the stuff to the mill, and as the stuff now going through—which is a fair trial of the heap -is showing up for an average return, the tributers will, doubtless, make the mine pay well.
The Tower of London, Waio-Karaka Creek, have obtained a yield of 120 ozs. retoited gold frcrn their crushing of 52 tons of general stuff.
'1 he Resaca claim, Tapu Creek. —A parcel of gold, weighing 26 ozs. 9 dwts., retorted, was to-day brought up from the Resaca claim, Tapu Creek, and realised sixty-three shillings an ounce. The gold was melted, and reduced to 25 ozs. 17 dwts.
