The Evening Star. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 1870.

A meeting of the electors of Newton Jwillbe held this evening.at the Newton '.Academy ,to discuss the merits of the respective candidates. A meeting of German residents was held last evening at the Auckland hotel, when an address, to be sent to the King of Prussia, was unanimously adopted, and various amounts which have been collected were handed in to the treasurer. Other business in connection with the object in view was transacted, but was of no public interest.
