DEATH OF CAPTAIN GEORGE COOKE.

We regret to learn that by the arrival of the Cleopatra, from Fiji, yesterday, intelligence has come of the sudden death of Captain George Cooke, of the schooner Sea Breeze. It appears that he was taken ill on one day, and died the day following, the cause of death being an apoplectic fit. Mr. Cooke was born at the Bay of Islands, and has left a wife and large family in Auckland to mourn their bereavement. The sorrowful news was conveyed to them this morning, and broken to them in the gentlest manner by one of the pns?ena;ers, having bpen kindly kept out of the morning papers for that purpose. Mr. Cooke was sensible to the end, and was able to give directions to the chief officer for bringing his vessel on to Aucklind. There is a general regret, and much sympathy with Mrs. Cooke, -who is only recovering from a severe illness.
