DEPUTATION.
Tins morning a deputation, consisting of Messrs. Brookfield and Freer, representatives of the Pensioner Settlements, proceeded to the offices of the Provincial Government as a deputation, and having a petition very numerously signed by the residents about Howick, Panmure, __c* The subject of the memorial was the Botany Bridge, which, being erected by the Government, and of great convenience and almost necessity to the residents, had been recently swept away. It appears that this bridge, erected at the point of contact of three Highway districts, belongs to none of them, and is literally on "no man's land." It is considered desirable that it should be placed under the charge of some one or other of them ; but in the meantime it requires re-erection. The deputation did not see bis Honor, but will receive a reply to the memorial probably to-morrow.
