Mr. Vogel yesterday moved the second reading of the Tariff Bill. Mr. Borlase moved, and Mr. Bunny seconded, that the bill should be read that day six months. A long and uninteresting debate then ensued, and a division being mude, the bill was thrown out by 26 to 14. The following members voted for the amendment :—Messrs. Borlase, Bunny, Baigent, Barff, Bradshaw, Brown, Carleton, Clark, Diguan, Eyes, W. H. Harrison, Tollie, Kenny, Kynnersley, Ludlam, Mclndoe, MeGilliveray, Munro', O'Rorke, Russell, Richmond, Stafford, Swan, Taylor, Wells, and Wood.

The following voted for the second reading : —Messrs. Brandon, Carrington, Fox, Hall, H. J. Harrison, Kelly, McLean, Moorhouse, Rolleston, Studholme, Tancred, Vogel, Williamson, and Wilson.

Mr. Vogel afterwards said that a3 no obj >ct would be "served by returning duties already collected, he would introduce a short bill to legalise their collection up to the end of September.

The Westland Boundaries and Government Bill was discharged from the order paper without a division.

Messrs. Harrison and Kynnersley spoke very bitterly against Mr. Vogel's conduct in tae matter.
