It is gratifying to see that our staples, flax and gum, are finding additional outlets, and especially such as will bring them under the eyes of the Yankee manufacturers, who are unrivaUed in the discovery of the economic purposes to which products may be applied. The cargoes of the Sarton and East Lothian, now loading for New York, will have an interest more valuable than the immediate commercial profit of the transaction and will have an undoubted influence on the future of these products and on their returns to producers. At the same time the supply of the London market should not be neglected, and it should be remembered that by the diverting of two vessels to New York, a considerable influence 'wUI be effected on London prices, so that shipments by the Mary Shepherd will probably meet with a state of things in the highest degree satisfactory to shippers. As this vessel will be the only one leaving for London from this port for a considerable time, the fact is deserving of notice from those interested in these exports. The Mary Shepherd saUs in about ten days, to be followed by the Argyleshire.
