ARRIVAL OF THE 'GALATEA' & 'CLIO' AT WELLINGTON.

[PBOJI THE -WELLINGTON " EVENING POST," AUGUST 27.]

H.M.S. Clio, 18 guns, Commodore Stirling, arrived in harbour this afternoon from the Cape of Good Hope, having sailed from that port on the 14th July. She experienced rough weather nearly all the passage, sighted an iceberg, and lost a man overboard. The Galatea sailed from the Cape in company, but the vessels parted, meeting again at the second rendezvous off the Snares. They remained together until this morning, at which time they were off Cape Palliser. It was blowing fresh, with a heavo sea, at the time, and the Galatea stood out to sea, as was imagined, through having incurred some injury to her engines, the Clio coming on into the harbour. The Clio is a sister ship to the Challenger, and at a distance it would be hard to tell the one from the other. She looks remarkably smart after her voyage, and in fact seems as if she had come in from Canterbury or Dunedin". Subjoined is a list of her officers :—

Captain F ; H. Stirling; Commander H. S. Sandys ; Lieutenants, T. W. P. Nesham, T. H. W. Beddoes, J. H. Lee, Count F. C.
