WANGA.NUI, August 22. A woman named U-rutterman was brought up at the Resident Magistrate's Court at Patea, on Friday, charged with concealment of birth, bufc as the body of the child could not be found, she was remanded until Monday. The Court sat again to-day, but no fresh evidence was taken. The prisoner made a statement to the effect that she had confessed to having given birth to a child in the open air on the 12th instant j that she bee me insensible after delivery j that on recovering con-ciousness she enquired for the child, and was told by Mrg. Connelly, the midwife, that "you will have enough to do to drag through the world without that." Mrs. Connolly, who had been pre"vio"usly arrested and discharged, was again taken into custody.
