The barque Kate passed the s.s. City of Melbourne about 400 miles to the westward of the Three Kings

The p.s. Samson left Russell at 7 p.m.-yes-terday, and arrived in harbour at 11 a.m. to-day, with a cargo of coals, 6 bales skins several packages sundries, and the following passengers :—Captain Burgess, Mr. E. Lewis, Mrs. Montague and family (5), Mr. Aloller, and five steerage.

Tho schoon' r Ivanhoo arrived in harbour, from Alongonui, with gum, timber, &c, this morning.

We perceive by advertisement that Messrs. Holmes Bros., of the North Shore, are calling for tenders for taking out the engine at present in use on the ferry steamer Enterprise No. 1; also for putting al4 horse-power engine in its place. We understand that this will cause a great improvement in her speed. The steamer will, leave every half-hour from Queen-street Wharf. The 10 horse-power engine, by Ruston, Proctor & Co., now in use, is for sale, and can be obtained at a low price.
