The Independent has the following : —lt appears that some lion, members or other persons have a decided penchant for Hansard and Parliamentary papers. During the present session hon. members have made frequent complaints of losing such trifles as copies of papers, &c, but it has now readied its culminating point, as during the afternoon sitting yesterday Hr. Hall complained that his pigeon hole had been ruthlessly cleared of its entire contents of Parliamentary literature. This is really a most distressing case. Jove without his thunderbolts would bo infinitely better oft' than the hon. member for'Heathcote without his Parliamentary records. To somewhat paraphrase Shakespeare, the hon. member for Heathcote might with Shylock exclaim—"lf thou do take away mine Hansirds, you do take away the means whereby I speak." We therefore trust that the perpetrator of this act of annexation will, on reading this, overwhelmed with remorse, make immediate and complete restitution.
