THE MECHANICS' INSTITUTE ENTERTAINMENT.
The entertainment last ni^ht at the Mechanics' was received by a house absolutely crammed, and the committee that gave the proceeds of the Carandini benefit to the poor sufferers by the Tauranga have learned that a. good deed is not lost. It certainly speaks well for the good-heartedness of the people of Auckland to find them crowding to the hall last msht, and returning to the committee of the Institute their generous gift. The entertainment was an eminent success, and to Madame Mohler, Mr. Connor Roach, Mr. Neill, and the musical family who kindly aided, a debt of gratitude is due. The '; Auckland Ethopian Troupe" of debutants was exceedingly successful, and will, we have no doubt, in future, become a very attractive feature in connection with the Institute. The whole affair passed off with eclat.
