(Before Captain Daldy and H. D. Morpeth, Esqs., Justices. DBXTNKENNESS.

P. Macartney, T. Murphy, and J. McDonald were each fined 5s »nd costs, or to be imprisoned 24 hours with hard labor. VAGRANCY. J. Morgan, with fourteen previous convictions appended to his name, pleaded guilty to bring an idle and disorderly person, and was sent to gaol for three months. APPLICATION FOR BAIT,. An application was made by Mr. Sheehan on behalf of James Wilson, who had been committed for trial on the charge of stealing specimens, bail being allowed, to have Richard Nolan Barry and Thomas Wilson accepted as his sureties. The former deposed»as to his position, and both were accepted, the latter being father of the prisoner. AS3ATTLT. Elizabeth Evans was charged by Margaret Barnctt witli assaulting her and pulling her hair, on the 3rd August. Mr. Bennett for the defence. Margaret Burnett deposed : I live in Durham street. On the 3rd inst. I heard a footstep in the yard ; the kitchen door opened and the defendant entered, and at once proceeded to pull me by the hair of the head, and called me disgraceful names. I screamed; a woman came in, and I pushed defendant out of the door. She flew to the windows, smashed them, and swore she would "do for me." I said, "Mrs. Evans, I will make you pay for this to-morrow morning."

To Mr. Bennett: I gave her no provocation. Did not see her smash the windows; heard tho crash. She did not come to my house and ask for Carry Williams.

Elizabeth McFavlane deposed generally to the facts stated, and specially to having heard " the old wife bellow" when her hair was pulling, and convulsed the Court with laughter in defending herself from Mr. Bennett's crossexamination. Defendant was bound over to keep the peace for three raontb.3, herself in £20 and two sureties in £10 each. The Court then rose.
