Charles Gill pleaded guilty to having stolen from the store of Combes and Johnston, a coat, value 40s, and was sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labor. : WIPE DESERTION. The charge against Charles Stacy, made by Eleanor Stacy his wife, for desertion, was adjourned till Monday. MUNICIPAL POLICE ACT. J. J. Donovan pleaded guilty to not having his name on the off side of his cart, on 23rd July, and was fined 10s and costs. ABSCONDING APPBENJICE. Edward Jones, a lad of 13 years, waß charged by J. Beveridge with absconding from his apprenticeship. James Beveridge deposed : The hid umy apprentice. On the 18th of last month I paid him his wages and a shilling. On the 20th he absconded. On the 23rd he was brought back and absconded again. A_n altercation took place between witness and ths father of tho lad, who objected to cancellation of the indentures. The lad was warned, and consenting to obey his employer, was ordered to return to his woik. ABUSIVE IANGHTAGrE. Margaret Wrightson was charged by Caroline Honeyman with having, on the 25th July, used to her threatening and abusive language. Mr. Tyler, for the defence, took objection to the form in which the charge was laid, being in the form of an " information" instead of a■" complaint," in terms of tho Act; and, further, that application was not made therein to have defendant bound over to keep the peace. Dismissed with costs. THE CASE OF THE CANTEBO. The enquiry regarding the abandonment of tho barque Cantero was, in the absence of Captain Beveridge, further adjourned till Monday. Mr. Bennett appeared to watch the case for Captain Davidson, of the Canters. Tho Court then rose.
