The attention of the Police Court was occupied to-day in hearing the case of the barque Gantero, abandoned offHokianga. The evidence adduced will he found else-
where
Tom Taylor's drama, the " Serf, or Lore Levels All," drew forth a large audience at the Theatre Koyal, on Saturday evening. The performance was one' of the best that we have seen produced in this hall, and is worth repeating. Miss Goughenheim was perfect in her part, and was well supported by the remainder of the company. The audience was a most enthusiastic one, the applause being both fi\ quent and prolonged. In another column will be found particulars of a collision on the coast between the ketch Enterprise and a steamer, supposed to be the Tauranga or Samson. The return of either of these vessels will be anxiously looked for, as it is feared by some that the damage sustained to the steamer may be serious. Sbbmons were yesterday preached at the High-street and Pitt-street Wesleyan Chapels, in aid of the Mission. At Pittstreet the Eev. J. Berry preached in the morning, and the Eev. W. C. Jf igg in the erening. The collections amounted to £11 4s. At the High-street chapel the JRev. C. W. Bigg preached in the morning, and the Rev. J. Berry in the evening. The collections at this place of worship morning and evening, amounted to £'6 Is 7d. To-morrow evening a tea meeting will be held at the Pitt-street schoolroom, for the recognition of the Eev. C. W. Kigg. After tea the annual mission meeting will take place in the church.
