Native Stabbed ox Saturday Week. •-■ Two natives named Huiama and Ilenry had an altercation on the road near the Settlers' Hotel, in this settlement, about royalty on some gum which Long Henry had dug upon some land lately sold to the Government; Henry maintaining that now that the land was the property of the Provincial Government he was no longer entitled to pay;; the royally to Hataina and his friends. Whereupon Ifatama deliberately stabbed Henry three times with a butcher's knife (used for scraping gum). The wounds were two on the breast, acd another on the right side, under the ribs 5 the latter is a Tory dangerous •wound. Dr. Perston "wa» called in!on the next morning to return: part of tho bowels that were protruding through the wounds.— Tho natives have themeelvos taken action in the matter to bring the offender to justice; they accordingly took him prisoner noar Ngunguru, and brought'him to -Wangares, where tho case was investigated by oiir 11.M., H. R. Aubrey, Esq., who committed the prisoner to take his ti'ial at the next Supreme Court at Auckland.—The prisoner goes to town to-night per p.s. Samson, in charge of two constables—one European and a native, to be placed in the Stockade at Mount Eden.—The prisoner wa«, I believe, one of the Ran gar iri rebels who got away from the Kawau when the Maoris bolted or rather were lot go there.— lferl.f. !
