ARRIVAL OF THE AIREDALE.

The C. S. Company's s.s. Airedale, A. Kennedy, Esq., commander, arrived in the Manukau this morning. She left Port Chalmers at 4 p.m. on the 21st, experiencing very thick -fog and fresh head winds ; arrived alongside the wharf at Lyttelton at' noon on 22nd; sailed from thence on the 23rd, at 4 p.m.; had head winds' and thick weather to Wellington, where she arrived the following day, at 9.30 ; left again on Sunday morning at 2.15; reached Picton at 7.20; proceeded again at 9 a.m. ; arrived at Nelson* at. 5 o'clock same evening; sailed from thence on 27th, at 6 p.m., ahd had fresh westerly winds across the Straits, with •tremendous.beam,sea j anchored off Taranaki at 10 a.m> on 28th ; heavy surf running in on the beach. At 11 o'clock surf boat came, alongside and took passengers off, but could not load cargo. The coxwain was washed off the boat as she was hauling in through the surf, but the crew fortunately managed to pick him up. At 3 p.m. the boat again came out with passengers. Sailed at 4!30 p.m., fresh westerly winds and beam sea, engines going easy. Crossed the Manukau bar atj 8 a.i_. to-day." ;'. 'v ■■. ; ' ' '■!" ■
