FURTHER SURRENDER OF
HAUHAUS
PITCAIRN'S MURDFRER AT WHA-
KATANE
The steamer Tauranga arrived in harbour this morning from Tauranga, bringing about forty passengers. We learn that on Friday last a party of Whakatoai's, numbering thirty-five came into Opotiki and surrendered to the Europeans. Most of these men have been in the bush with Te Kooti since the murder of Yolkner. They state that they are unaware of Te Kooti's whereabouts.
Among the party of forty who surrendered at Whakatane about three weeks since is the murderer of poor l Jitcairn. Surely the authorities will not allow such a murderous scoundrel to slip through their fingers.
