THEATRE ROYAL.
Theee was a very fair attendance at the Royal last night, when the splendid comedy of " London Assurance" was produced. Mr. Rayncr was announced to have sustained the part of Dazzle, but on account of his continued indisposition the part was entrusted on very short notice, to Mr. South, and we* were very much astonished to see him make so much of it. He deserves great credit for the manner in which he played, and we have no doubt in saying, were such parts forced on to Mr. South, that it would be the means of making him in time something above a low comedian. All the other parts were excellently played, Mrs. Jackson, Jas. Simmonds, Mrs. S. Howard, and Miss Raymond acquiting themselves very creditably. The capital farce of " Family Jars" followed, and gave Mr. Sam Howard another opportunity of displaying his comic powers. To-night Mrs. Jackson appears in her great character of Lady Audley, to be followed by " The Wandering Minstrel," with Mr. Howard as Jem Baggs. We anticipate a crowded house.
