ARRIVAL OF THE SCHIEHALLION.
The Schiehallion which arrived in harbour on Saturday, from London, is a beautiful iron ibarque; of 600 tons register, and is now on her first voyage. She was built in Dundee in 1869, and upon arrival in London was chartered by Messrs. j Shaw, Saville and. Co., to proceed to this port; This fine vessel is in command of Capt. J. Levack.wko informs us that during the passage out .nothing remarkable has occurred. The barque left' the "East India Docks on the 35th February, and the Downs on the 27th. Had a favourable run down channel, and took her final departure from the Scilly on the Ist March. : Experienced favourable N.E. winds
to the equator, which was crossed on the 26th March, in 21 deg. -west longitude. The vessel was then becalmed for a week, and from thence to the meridian of the Cape, which was crossed on the 27th April, in 40 deg. south latitude ; had variable winds, the S.E. trades proving very unsteady. From thence to Tasmania, which,-,was , passed .on the 30tk May, had variable winds from JN". and N.W., going down to- 50 deg. south latitude. From Tasmania to New Zealand experienced variable winds, with heavy BT.E. gales.
