LATEST SOUTHERN TELEGRAMS. The Government p.s. Luna, Captain Fairchild, arrived yesterday evening in the Manukau, from Wellington. By her we have received late Wellington files. CHRISTCHURCH, June 2. A large and influential meeting was held to-day, of persons interested in flax preparation. A committee was appointed to consider the best process ; and the Superintendent (Chairman), at the request of the meeting, has telegraphed to the General Government asking them to instruct Messrs. Featherston and Bell to inspect machinery at home and report thereon. DWNEDIN, June 3. Judge Ward was entertained at dinner at the Club last night. There was a large attendance of the legal profession and of the eading merchants of iJunedii-i.
