DANGEROUS GOODS ACT.
The following important communications have passed between the City Board of Commissioners and his Honor the Supei. intendent. The subject is one of deep in. terest, and we have no doubt will not stop here: —
City Board of Commissioners' Office, Auckland, April 29, 1870.
Sir, —I have the honor to inform you that I am directed by the_ Chairman to state that considerable inconvenience is experienced by merchants and others being precluded, under the Dangerous Goods Act, 1869, ship, ping even a single case of kerosene. The Chairman begs respectfully to suggest that, subject to your Honor's approval, instruction should be given to the Wharfinger to permib duly licensed holders to ship to the extent of six cases, or forty gallons. —I have, &c, (Signed) I. Superintendent's Office, Auckland, 4th May, 1870. Sir, —I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your secretary's letter, dated the 29 th ultimo, suggesting that instruction should be given the Wharfinger to permit the shipment of six cases or fifty gallons of kerosene by merchants licensed under " The Dangerous Goods Act, 1869," and to inform you in reply that I have no power to override the provi» sions of an Act of the General Assembly.—l am, &c, (Signed) Thomas B.
