ANNUAL LICENSING MEETING.

Ibis being the day for granting renewed licenses, anl also for new applications the following justices were present :-Captam Symoncb, R.M., Major Gordon, Y. Paton, and W. R. Logan, Isqs., J.P.S. The old licenses tor Onehunga were renewed as under, viz. :-Kqyal Oak Mrs. Kelly ; Prince Albert, John Brierly ; Hibernia Tlios, Paterson ; Victoria, Matthew Cullen ; Mauukau, Mrs. "Williamson ; Royal Exchange, George Codlin ; Royal Hotel, John Yeaton. Also the old licenses for Howick, viz. :—Howick Arms, Peter Brady ; Prince of Wales, William White ; Thistle and Shamrock, T. Mclnness. For Panmure : — Ferry Hotel, G-eorge Clode ; Panmure Hotel, W. McManus. For Otahuhu :—Criterion, Thos. Rogers ; Star, Edward Foley. Epsom : Prince Albert, Isaac G-wynne ; Harp of Erin, William Lundon. Papatoitoi—Farmer's Hotel, Y. R. McLarnon.

Mr. Logan complained that there was a great deal" of drunkenness in Utahuhu, and the Bench warned the publicans against sup plying drink to persons who had sufficient. A new license for a house, to be called the Court House Hotel, situate at the junction of Queen-street and Princes-street, Onehunga, opposite the Court House and Post Office, was applied for by Mr. John Lundon, but the Bench considered there was sufficient accommodation in Onehunga, and refused to grant the license.

The Bench heard and adjudged the following case of trespass : — Robert Dickie was charged with being found unlawfully on the premises of Mr. Brimner. Mr. Briinner deposed that defendant was hanging about hi 3 premises for about three hours yesterday at night, and when spoken to by his wife, he threatened her, and on repeatedly refusing to go away, prisoner was given into the custody of the police. He had been smoking and striking matches most of the time. Mrs. Brimner and Mr. Hill gave confirmatory evidence. Prisoner pleaded not' guilty, and said he was in the neighbourhood last evening to keep an appointment witli a parly, and did not know he was on complainant's premises. The Court imposed a mitigated penalty of 10s. and costs, or fourteen days' imprisonment.
