WELLINGTON.
The capital is bestirring itself just now Provisional directors have been appointed to enrol subscribers to a new Steam Navigation Company, to take the place of the expiring N.Z. Company. A meeting has also been hell to confer with Mr. Collie touching his pro. posed new line of steamers to San Francisco. An able paper on the superior qualification, of Wellington as the port of call, drawn up by Mr. Wakefield, was read at the meeting ana elicited much commendation.
The Hon. Mr. Fox, accompanied by Mr. Brown, Private Secretary, has left Wellington in the Airedale, on a visit to the provinces of the Middle Island.
