ARRIVAL OF THE LORD ASHLEY.

The Circular Saw s.s. Lord Ashley, Captain H E Wheeler, arrived in the Manukau this morning from the Southern Ports, bince her last visit to this port she has undergone the usual half-yearly overhaul, in addition to repairs to engines and boilers (by E. W. Mills, of Wellington) ; the saloon has been re-pamted, decorated, and fitted up afresh. The Ashley sailed from Wellington on 9th at 4 40 p.m. ; passed Jackson's Head at 10.40 p.m.; rounded Stevens' Island at 2.10 a.m., Sunday ; anchored outside the Boulder Bank, Nelson, 7.40 a.m.; blowing a gale from northeast, heavy sea running in the Bay ; at 1 p.m. entered the harbour. Left Nelson on 11th at 4.10 p.m.; had fresh easterly winds to New Plymouth, off which she anchored at 10.40 am. of 12th. Sailed again same afternoon at 3.15. Eased the engines at 3 a.m. this morning ; crossed the Manukau at 6.15 a.m.; had S.E. winds and fine weather. We are indebted to Mr. B. B. Pnngle, purser, for our Southern files.
